The Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced yesterday its intention to publish a commemorative book that introduces the economic achievements of Qatar in the last four decades. This was announced in a Press conference during which the Chamber signed a Cooperation Agreement with GEOC Group in charge of the book edition. Mr. Salah al-Sharqi, Acting General Manager of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed the Agreement on behalf of the Chamber and Mr. Eric Ohayon, CEO signed it in his turn on behalf of GEOC.
The title of the commemorative publication will be: Four Decades of Economic Excellence and Achievements (1971-2011). This distinguished edition will be launched in a Dinner Party attended by major visitors, officials and business community in September, 19, 2011.
Mr. Salah al-Sharqi, Acting General Manager of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry declared: “This unique publication will shed lights on the dynamic leadership and the pioneers that established the private sector in Qatar and worked to modernize and reform the economy, the infrastructure, the foundations and the companies that left their imprint all along the last forty years under the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of the Country.” Al-Sharqi noted that “the Chamber of Commerce showed in the previous period its great interest in all the aspects of the national economy and has worked to present it locally and regionally in all occasions, fairs and congresses.” He considered that “this book will be the summing-up of the economic development that occurred during the last four decades in Qatar...”
He added that Qatar Private Sector is proud of its innumerable great achievements in the previous period, and especially during the era of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Heir Apparent, may God preserve them...”
It is noteworthy that the sponsors of this commemorative book will have at their disposal large and elegant spaces to advertise the activities, strategies and products of their companies, as well as interviews depicting their leading missions in the economic activity.

As a result of the previous excellent experience of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce with its partner GEOC, and especially after the great success that accompanied the celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of the Gulf Chambers in Doha, the Chamber assigned to GEOC team this huge work. GEOC team will be the link and unique channel executing this workshop.

He noted that Qatar's economy is witnessing a continuative progress, notwithstanding the consequences of the current financial crisis, thanks to the excellent monitoring of the distribution of oil and gas dividends. He stressed that Qatar's economy succeeded in the last period in imposing an outstanding position under the auspices and the perspicacious vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of the Country and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Heir Apparent.
